Dear Editor:

To the parents of the vandals that have been breaking into cars in Mount Carroll:

Several nights ago I was awakened by noise outside my window of someone in my car. By the time I put on my housecoat, found my cell phone, grabbed by Browning and got out my front door, the vandals were gone. At 91, I do not move as quickly as I used to.

The vandals were very lucky. For the next 30-45 minutes I drove about the neighborhood trying to locate the vandals, but to no avail.

The next morning I checked my car to see what was missing. As far as I can determine, my sunglasses, a $5 Shell gas card and a small pair of binoculars were taken.

Do you, as parents, care where your son is at one o’clock in the morning? If the vandals keep breaking into cars, they will be caught.
