Laura Shelly of Mount Carroll has been named the new Director of Nursing for Allure of Mount Carroll Nursing Home.
The appointment was effective May 1. She had been a staff nurse at Allure since Dec 1.
Prior to starting at Allure, Shelly, 50, had spent the last 27 years in Critical and Emergency Care and decided it was time for a change.
“I absolutely fell in love with the nursing home the minute I walked in for an interview,” Shelly said. “It looks like an actual home and feels more like a resort with all of the amenities such as menu dining, exercise room, hair salon and activities scheduled throughout the day.
Shelly continued, saying, “The best part of this particular home is that I know many of the residents. I grew up in Mount Carroll and was excited to spend my days with all of the people that had been a part of my family's life for so many years. They helped nurture me all those years ago and now it is my turn to do the same.”
Added Shelly, “Allure is a wonderful company that has come in to Mount Carroll with strong work ethics and eagerness for this nursing home to succeed. They have been very supportive of me as a nurse and now as a leader.
“Taking this new role is exciting. I have a lot to learn and face many challenges due to starting during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am grateful to have an incredible staff that is working very hard to keep everyone healthy and happy during this time. We have been fortunate to not have this horrible virus enter our home.
“My door is always open and I am just a phone call away for anyone to inquire about living or working here.”
Shelly, her husband Ryan, and their two daughters, Grace and Olivia, reside in Mount Carroll.
