Free soup along with bluegrass gospel and country-style music will be offered Wednesday, July 17, at The Table, 926 Viaduct Rd., Savanna.

Sponsored by the Great River Outreach, The Table is part of New Unity Deliverance and Worship Center. Everyone is welcome to this kid-friendly event.

Free soup and bread will be served at 6 p.m. Helping lead worship will be Gone Fishin', a local group specializing in blue grass, country and other genres.

"We're really pleased that Gone Fishin' has decided to join us in worship at The Table as part of the ongoing Lent series," said Pastor Gary Panetta of First Presbyterian Church. "We want people to realize that church is less about buildings and more about relationships -- our relationship with Jesus and our relationship with one another."

Gone Fishin' derives its name from Matthew 4:14: "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people."

Pastor Narda Alvelo of Iglesia Cristo La Luz (Church of Christ the Light) and a chaplain at the Thomson federal prison will give the message.
