Festival of Trees will soon be open to the public at the Savanna Museum and Cultural Center, 406 Main St. Opening day is 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26.

“This annual jolly event always brightens the holidays for the community and folks of all ages,” said organizers.

Any business, organization, school, church or individual is welcome to sponsor a tree for the festival. All displays must be self-sustaining; free from glitter, sand, or confetti; and meet the fire codes. The museum will provide electric power, but sponsors are strongly encouraged to bring their own extension cords.

During the festival, visitors can vote for their favorite tree in each category — full-size tree, table-top tree and creative tree. The winning trees will be announced at the end of the festival. Visitors can also buy raffle tickets and try to win the special gifts (valued at $25 or more) donated by tree sponsors.

Another way to be a sponsor is to contribute a Silent Auction item, such as an “experience” gift, a gift showcasing your business, a creative art piece or craft, a gift basket, etc. Auction items must have a value of at least $25. Winners will be contacted after Dec. 12.

Sponsors can set up their trees/auction items from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 20-24.

If a different set-up time/day is needed or to register for the event, contact Julane, 815-990-1728; Ann, 815-275-1958; Julienne, 815-275-5955; or Penny, 815-273-4146.

All sponsors and their guests are invited to the “Jingle Mingle” party at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, as a thank you for participating in the festival. Guests will enjoy refreshments and music amidst the beautiful lighted trees.

The Festival of Trees will be open to the public from 4-7 p.m., Monday through Friday, plus Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 p.m., from Friday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 12.

Admission is free. However, donations are always greatly appreciated.
