Old Man Winter takes control

Downtown Mount Carroll had a temporary mountain of snow Monday morining, Jan. 28, at the intersection of Main and Market streets following a Sunday night winter storm that produced around seven inches of snow. City workers pushed the snow to the main intersection and then removed it to another location. Bitterly cold Arctic temperatures moved into the region Tuesday, Jan. 29, with predicted lows of minus-35 or colder, prompting the closure of West Carroll and area schools along with many businesses on Tuesday and Wednesday.
