The Mount Carroll Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Christmas Walk and Tour of Homes on Friday, Dec. 6, from 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The tour includes seven historic stops; tickets cost $10 and include a tour booklet. Advance tickets are available at The Bridgewater Inn, 116 E. Market St.; Savanna-Thomson State Bank, 703 S. East St.; Shaw's Express, 855 S. Mill St.; Plain Jane's, 407 S. Clay St.; Mount Carroll Pharmacy, 101 W. Market St.; Mount Carroll Banking Center, 401 S. Clay St.
Tickets will be on sale both days of the event at the Kraft Building, 320 N. Main St.
The historic Kraft Building will also be the location of the Holiday Market held Friday, Dec.6, from 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Over 20 vendors will be representing handcrafted offerings perfect for the start of your holiday shopping. Come join us in the second year of presenting local crafts, holiday items and foodstuffs.
Festivities start after the Community Tree Lighting, 4 p.m. Friday, where there will be hot soup, hot chocolate and an early viewing of the vendors. The Holiday Market continues on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pictures with Santa from 11 a.m.-1.p.m. assisted by Boy Scout Troop 51. Please bring your own camera. "Storm & Friends" will perform from 1-1:30 p.m. "Storm" is the West Carroll High School chorale group which will be joined by special guests.
Many other special events will be held during the Christmas Walk. The Mount Carroll Banking Center, 401 S. Clay St., will serve complimentary hot chocolate and cookies Friday from 8 a.m.-6.p.m. and again Saturday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The Carroll County Substance Education Coalition (114 W. Market St.) will provide kids' crafts and face painting Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
On Saturday only, deposit your children's letters to Santa in the North Pole mailbox at Plain Jane's from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Also on Saturday, grab a cup of soup to warm up from 12-4 p.m. at the Mount Carroll Insurance Agency.
The Allure of Mount Carroll Auxiliary Bake Sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mount Carroll Community House, 101 Main St. Children are welcome to come to the Mount Carroll Township Library, 208 N. Main St. for a story time, crafts and refreshments Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. Music by harpist Alyssa Nelson will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
This festive event ends with the 2nd Annual Lions Club Christmas Gala at Henry's Double K, 834 S. Jackson St., from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available at the Mount Carroll Home Center. Proceeds will be used for sight and hearing-impaired children to attend Camp Lion and to fund community projects.
