The Savanna Historical Society is hosting a "Car Cruise-In" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday, July 19, in downtown Savanna and is encouraging car enthusiasts to participate.
Vehicles can be parked in the blocked off areas of the 400 block of Main Street or in the 300 block behind Main Street. There is no registration fee.
“Come and enjoy being outside and show your support to the Savanna Historical Society,” said Jean Ferris, SHS Event Chair. “Donations will be gratefully accepted and used to continue renovations and programming at the Savanna Museum and Cultural Center.
Car enthusiasts planning to attend include Savanna residents Ron Nemec, who will showcase his 1984 Corvette; Don Nowviock with his 1931 Model A; and Andy Mills with his 2005 Ford GT.
Nostalgia super stock drag racer Howard Crull of Fieldon, Ill., will display the Ferris Motors’ 1965 Torqueflite Tornado tribute car.
There will be a silent auction for a $200 gas Stihl leaf blower donated by Savanna Home and Hardware. Sign-up at the museum, 406 Main St.; the winner can take the leaf blower home after 3 p.m.
The SHS encourages social distancing and wearing masks. Hand sanitizers will be available at a table in front of the museum.
“The SHS supports area businesses and hopes the public will enjoy this family activity,” said Ferris.
