Bishop Sally Dyck and the Northern Illinois Cabinet announce the appointment of Pastor Kim Chapman to the Mount Carroll, Thomson and Argo Fay United Methodist Churches, effective July 1.

Pastor Chapman is a licensed local pastor and certified candidate in the ordination process for elder in the Northern Illinois Conference of The United Methodist Church. Her undergraduate degree is in music, and she received her Master of Divinity from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in 2011.

She is a lover of life, art, architecture, music, nature, John Wesley and Jesus. She has served as pastor of Chana United Methodist Church and Lighthouse United Methodist Church. She also served as one of the pastoral staff at DeKalb First United Methodist Church while serving as the Wesley Foundation Director at Northern Illinois University.

For the past three years Pastor Chapman lived in St. Louis and Springfield, Mo., serving in roles of worship and music. In 2012, she served on the Worship & Music Team for General Conference overseeing communications.

She said she looks forward to being back in northern Illinois with her books, drums, and assorted Mac gadgets. She will reside in the Mount Carroll parsonage, serving Mount Carroll, Thomson and Argo Fay.

Pastor Chapman will conduct her first services on Sunday, July 7. Times are: Thomson, 8:30 a.m.; Argo Fay, 9:30 a.m.; and Mount Carroll, 10:45 a.m.

A reception to welcome her to the area will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 7, at the Mount Carroll United Methodist Church, 216 S Main St.
