Mount Carroll Mayfest is returning to the Shimer College campus on Memorial Day weekend — Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 24, 25 and 26.

“Grab your button and head up to see this awesome music lineup rock out the newly-constructed Mayfest stage,” said Mayfest organizer Brandon Ballard.

Mayfest buttons, $7 each and good for the entire weekend, are available at the Mirror-Democrat, Mount Carroll Home Center, Mount Carroll Mobil, Shaw's Market, Shaw's Express and City Hall.

Also, Civil War re-enactors from Battery G 2nd Illinois Light Artillery will set up camp at Shimer College all weekend.

Times to walk through camp and observe how soldiers lived in the 1800s are 5-9 p.m. Friday, May 24; 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, May 25; and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, May 26.

Stop by and see the cannon and small arms demonstrations Saturday at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

“These bands and activities are thanks to donors who have stepped up to make Mayfest 2019 happen,” said Ballard. “If you are interested in being a part of Mayfest 2019, there are a number of ways to get involved or donate.”
