Savanna is celebrating the Fourth of July with a variety of activities this Saturday, July 6.

The annual parade begins at 6 p.m., with line-up starting at 5:30 p.m. at the former Shopko parking lot.

Parade participants will proceed north on Third Street to Division, then south along Main Street.

Local residents, organizations and businesses are encouraged to participate in the parade. Contact the Savanna Fire Department on its non-emergency phone number at 815-273-2246 or email to participate.

Following the parade, the Fourth of July celebration will continue at the West Carroll High School grounds with fun activities for the children, including bounce houses, face painting and fire truck rides.

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

The fireworks display will begin around 9 p.m.

The Savanna Fire Department will be collecting donations at the event and along Longmoor Avenue.

Everyone attending is asked to leave fireworks at home or they will be confiscated. Due to state laws, seating will not be permitted on the east and west sides of the football field. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket and bug spray.
