Two years ago, Elizabeth Rath, daughter of Carroll County Farm Bureau Board secretary Keith Rath, and Dawn Rath, a West Carroll School Board member, was diagnosed with leukemia her senior year at West Carroll High School.

She was able to do her treatments and graduated with her class. Now, nearly two years to the day, Elizabeth found out her leukemia is back. She will be in the hospital at least two months and she will have a minimum of one round of chemo if not more to follow as she is awaiting a bone marrow transplant.

Elizabeth graduated from West Carroll High School in 2017 and is in her sophomore year at Augustana College in Rock Island where she is majoring in biology.

A benefit to assist with uncovered expenses is being held at the Carroll County Farm Bureau in the Naaman Diehl Auditorium on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to2 p.m.

A barbecue luncheon will be available for a donation along with a silent auction. An account has been set up at TBK Bank in Mount Carroll called the Elizabeth Rath Fund. Donations may be mailed or dropped off at the bank.

Anyone who would like to assist with any part of the event on Feb. 24 may contact Chas Welch at 815-590-6373 or carrollcfb@gmail.com.

Silent auction items can be donated by contacting Karen McCarthy at 815-632-9545 or the Farm Bureau office.
