Allure of Mount Carroll, 1006 N. Lowden Rd., is celebrating its 49th anniversary in skilled care and rehabilitation services with open house festivities from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, rain or shine.

In 1970 the Good Samaritan Society-Mount Carroll was established with the assistance of countywide involvement.

On July 1, 2019, ownership of the center was transferred to Allure of Mount Carroll, “allowing for the continuation of high-quality care and services in the community,” nursing home officials said in a news release.

“Providing specialized services in a loving and compassionate setting, we want you to feel at home and we believe that, ‘At Allure of Mount Carroll, you're all family,’" the release.

The public is invited attend the open house activities beginning with an opening ceremony with welcoming remarks and presentation of the flag by members of the Mount Carroll American Legion Post #67.

The Auxiliary, now in its 49th year, will host a bake sale. A silent auction with items donated by Allure of Mount Carroll staff and community friends will be held for the benefit of the residents' activity program.

Entertainment for the event will include an "Allure's Got Talent" show followed by Vivian Eaton on the accordion at 4 p.m. and Al & Carolyn Mysliwiec providing country music at 5 p.m.

Children's' activities include games, face painting, bouncy houses and the Mount Carroll Church of God members providing Puppets of Praise.

A free picnic lunch of hot dogs, brats, coleslaw, chips and beverage will be available for all guests during the open house. Staff will also conduct tours and Dayne's photo booth will capture special moments of the day.

"At our open house we honor our organization's rich history and also honor and celebrate with our community, our staff members and the people we serve," said Luann Brewington, administrator at Allure of Mount Carroll.
