Savanna has a new location for people wanting to purchase beverages and food items, play gaming machines, play pool or darts, pick up snacks and more.
River Ratz officially opened Thursday, May 30, at 44 Main St., in downtown Savanna.
Owner Brian Prowant, who also owns and operates Midwest Motors in Savanna, has been working on remodeling the building and setting up the business for the past year and a half. The location is the former site of KFC/Taco Bell.
"It was a nice building that was just sitting empty and such a good location," said Prowant in an email interview.
River Ratz is a "general store" and bar, offering a variety of services and products. Prowant said the business will offer a full bar, slot machines, dart boards, pool tables and an outdoor seating area.
River Ratz also has a convenience/liquor store, with a drive-thru. The store has a walk-in beer cave and offers a variety of wine and liquor.
Prowant said the store also will carry snacks, chips, cigarettes, tobacco and tubes, coffee, fountain pop, lottery sales, ice, and all of the normal convenience store items.
The bar and drive-thru will be open 6 a.m.-2 a.m. Monday-Saturday and 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Sundays.
The store will be open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays.
