The Savanna VFW presented the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department with a $15,000 check last week to be used for the department’s K-9 program. The money was raised through Savanna VFW Queen of Hearts Raffle. Sheriff Ryan Kloepping said money will be used to purchase a new K-9 for the department which will cover the cost of the K-9 as well as training for both the deputy and the K-9. The training will take place in Michigan beginning in mid February. Any additional donations will be used for equipment needed to outfit the new K-9 team and vehicle as well as future K-9 equipment upgrades and expenses. Participating in the check presentation are, from left, Chief Deputy Michael Holland, Sheriff Ryan Kloepping, and Savanna VFW members Mike Raleigh, Rod Clemmens and Dennis Longnecker.
