"The History of Christmas Trees" will be a special display in the Owen P. Miles Museum in Mount Carroll during December, sponsored by the Carroll County Historical Society.

Decorated trees on display will feature ornaments from the late 1800s up to the 1960s. Also on loan will be a display of vintage Christmas cards and an historic "Old Country" vintage Nativity set.

“Step back in time and imagine one of these trees in your home as friends and family gather to celebrate Christmases in the past,” the Historical Society said.

Museum hours during December will be Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

There will be a family donation of $10 for this special event.

To schedule an appointment at other times, contact the museum at 815-244-3474.

The Museum is at 107 W. Broadway, Mount Carroll. Artifacts from Carroll County history are on display in every room.
