The Great River Outreach is offering free classes in personal development and in arts and crafts during August at The Table, 926 Viaduct Rd., Savanna, at New Hope Deliverance Center.

The Great River Outreach is a Christian-based organization made up of a variety of churches in the Savanna area. GRO's goal is to build a sense of community and offer a hand-up in life. Meals also are served at noon-1 pm. Mondays through Fridays. Do you need help with personal or spiritual matters? Pastoral care is also available.

Free personal development classes and events during August at The Table include:

•Now's the Best Time to Find Your Fit (10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6). Learn about your gifts and talents and how you can best use them to serve God and your neighbor.

•Building Life-Giving Relationships (10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13). Learn how to build life-giving relationships with family, friends, community and God.

•Wok This Way with Parson Bob Stark (10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20). Learn to cook Chinese-style meals with a few simply ingredients and in just a few minutes.

•"Thy Kingdom Come" (10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug., 27). Explore the meaning of the Lord's Prayer with Pastor Gary Panetta. What does it mean to pray for the coming of the Lord's kingdom?

Free arts and crafts classes during August at The Table include:

•Acrylic Painting with Cindie (10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8). Cindie Bulik will help bring out your inner artist. You will surprise yourself with what you can do.

•Postage-Stamp Art with Cindie Bulik (10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15). Learn how to create compelling images with postage stamps and cutouts.

•Paint Like Grant Wood (10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22). Learn about this famous Midwestern artist of the early 20th century and how you can create Grant Wood-inspired art.
