The John Boelkens Memorial Blood Drive is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Mount Carroll Church of God.
The blood drive is sponsored by the West Carroll FFA.
John Boelkens of Mount Carroll, who died in August at the age of 78, was a remarkable American Red Cross blood donor and volunteer, donating more than 110 pints of lifesaving blood during his lifetime.
Appointments are necessary. Call 815-273-7715.
Anyone over the age of 16 can sign up at redcrossblood.org to donate blood.
Sixteen-year-olds can give blood with parental permission. They will need to contact FFA Advisor Don Mathey at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the permission form and sign up.
“By donating at this blood drive, you are helping one or more graduating seniors earn a scholarship,” Mathey said.
