A recently installed fundraising thermometer in front of the Mount Carroll District Library is recording the level of contributions to the library’s Rehab & Expand 2021 project. Total donations now stand at nearly $670,000 as of Saturday, Jan. 9, with $510,000 more to go to unlock the $1.15 million Illinois Public Library Construction Grant. Laurel Bergren, left, president of the library’s Board of Trustees, paints the new total on the thermometer as Pam Naples, library director, observes.
