Say it ain’t snow!

The Savanna Public Library at 326 Third St. is clear evidence that Mother Nature produced an early Halloween shocker Monday afternoon, Oct. 19, when the skies darkened, temperatures dropped and up to two inches of snow fell on Savanna, Carroll County and northwestern Illinois. Snow stuck to the ground before melting away by mid-Tuesday morning. This area got off lightly as up to nine inches of snow fell in some parts of Iowa. Temperatures were expected to hit the 70s on Thursday, Oct. 22, before dipping into the 40s and 50s for the remainder of the week.
