Members of Mount Carroll Boy Scout Troop 51 has been assisting the Carroll County Toys for Tots program this Christmas season by helping move toy boxes to the central distribution location at the Farm Bureau in Mount Carroll. On Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16, Scouts and troop leaders, using a truck and trailer along with three other pickup trucks, helped move a thousand pounds of batteries donated by Duracell and more than a hundred boxes of toys supplied by the Toys for Tots corporate location from Carroll County coordinator Regina Vesely’s garage near Savanna to Mount Carroll. “It was a fantastic job done by these great guys,” said Vesely. “I don’t know what I would have done if hadn’t been for them and especially Mike Bates.” Scouts and leaders included, from left, Christiene, Fran and Patrick Gable, Brenda and Ethan Kness, Dalton Duggan, James Longnecker, Mike and Haiden Bates, Darrell Duggan and Regina Vesely.
