Chris Vallillo returns to Carroll County for a performance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at Manny's Event Room, 211 Main St., Savanna.
The event is free to the public.
Award winning musician/folklorist Chris Vallillo performs pivotal songs from the music that inspired and sustained the Civil Rights movement. Intermixed with the music, Vallillo presents first-hand accounts and historic images of this historic struggle and discusses the impact of music to the nation’s most important social cause.
The event is a part of the companion programming of the Savanna Historical Society, in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street, "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America."
The event is made possible in part by a grant from Illinois Humanities.
“Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and State Humanities Councils nationwide. It is based on an exhibition by the National Museum of American History. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.
