SAVANNA—Bobby Gerald Nelson, 59, of Savanna, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, due to health complications.

Bob was born May 12, 1960, in Chicago, the son of Rose (MacLain) Stapleton. Bob graduated from Tilden High School, then enrolled in the United States Marine Corps.

He was a welder by trade and a master craftsman with anything he put his hands on. Bob was the true definition of a handyman. He loved fixing things and showing his intelligence to his friends and family.

Bobby met the love of his life, his true soulmate, Shirley Jean Nelson. He then took full responsibility of raising his stepdaughter, Chris, and his son Shawn. Shirley was Bob's everything. Unconditional love threw them highs and lows.

Bob loved fishing, camping, spending time with the grandkids and irritating the heck out of friends and family. Bob loved to sing songs from Ozzy Osbourne to Reba Macentire as he put in his own lyrics, ones that would make everyone laugh and remember.

Now Bobby is survived by his daughter, Chris Hamby) Hawes of Stillman Valley; one son, Shawn Nelson of Savanna; grandkids, Payton and Dylan Hawes of Stillman Valley and Legend and Skylar Nelson of Savanna.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Shirley.

There are no services and cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Homes, Rock Falls.
