MONROE, Wis.—Janet C. (Holtshopple) Paschal, 84, of Monroe, Wis., formerly of Savanna, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

Janet was born Dec. 3, 1935, to John and Viola (Unger) Holtshopple. She was born and raised in Monroe, Wis., and attended and graduated from Monroe schools. She played the drums and violin.

Janet was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She worked at a local bank after graduation until she married Jack W. Paschal on Oct. 22, 1955. She spent most of her adult life in Savanna raising her children, being a farmwife and working in the loans department at Savanna State Bank.

She enjoyed the simple things, canning vegetables, making crock pickles and homemade jelly. She had an artistic side that she dabbled in from time to time.

Many high school boys who were hired as hay help for the summer knew Janet as the best cook. She always made a huge meal at lunchtime for them.

In her later years when she decided to retire, she moved back to her childhood home in Monroe where she enjoyed her leisure time around the house and yard. She lived there until her battle with Parkinson’s became too hard for her to live on her own.

To receive the help she needed, she lived at Pleasant View Nursing Home the last two years where she passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

She is survived by three children, Lynn (Garry) Harms of Monroe, Wis., Dirk (Ann) Paschal of Gurnee, and Ryan Paschal of Madison, Wis.; three grandchildren, Morgan Harms, Emmet Paschal and Amity Paschal; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Robinson and Oliver Schmelzer; and one sister, Alice Homan.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 1, 2020. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home of Monroe, Wis., assisted the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at shriner111.com.
