FREEPORT—Colleen Val (Spotts) Hartley came to visit Aug. 8, 1921, and went to her eternal home March 28, 2019.
Colleen, formerly of Savanna, had 97 wonderful years, and a few not so great. She loved and enjoyed many people in many places and many people enjoyed her.
She is survived by her four children: Eugene Michael and Barbara (Chaffee) Hartley Sr. of Columbus, N.J., Daniel Steven (June Mellinger) Hartley of Freeport, Katherine Louise (Hartley) and Stewart Brandon of Soldotna, Alaska, and Richard Floyd and Deborah (Winters) Hartley of Soldotna, Alaska; five grandchildren: Michael Hartley Jr. of Lehighton, Pa., Heather (Hartley) Hudson of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Timothy Garnett of San Mateo, Calif., Jennifer (Garnett) Bellis, of Castle Rock, Colo., and Richard Hartley of Fulton.
She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Cody Hartley, Shaun Hudson, Karisma Hudson, Devon Hartley, Oliver Bellis, Meilana Garnett, Leo Garnett, and one Garnett baby on the way, due August 2019; sister-in-law Bonnie Spotts of Battle Creek, Iowa; and four nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Theodore Sr. and Antje Louise (Peterson) Spotts; husband, Eugene Robert (Gene/Bob) Hartley; and brother, Daniel Theodore (Jack) Spotts Jr.
The family would love to have you join them for a celebration of her life at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the First Presbyterian Church 502 Third St., Savanna, IL 60174.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in her honor.
