MOUNT CARROLL—Margaret Ann Bausman, 89, lifelong resident of Mount Carroll, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at Medina Manor Nursing Center in Durand.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Memorials may be made to the Mount Carroll Fire Department. Friends and family are invited to share in Margaret's life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Margaret was born April 3, 1930, in Savanna, the daughter of Clyde and Myrtle (Parker) Morgan. She attended Mount Carroll schools, graduating with the Class of 1948.
Margaret met the future love of her life, Marvin, in the fifth grade and she always knew they would marry, which they did on June 11, 1950, at the First Baptist Church of Mount Carroll. They "survived" successfully raising three rambunctious sons and celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Margaret loved family life and she and Marvin enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. For many years they lived in Riverview, savoring being by the Mississippi River before returning to Mount Carroll.
In the early 1960s Margaret worked as Mount Carroll's first meter maid. She continued her community service by serving on the city council in the 1970s.
Her primary career was working in the insurance industry — first at Crum & Forester Insurance and then with Country Companies, progressing to the position of claims representative.
She enjoyed a wide range of interests and hobbies, including tagging Monarch butterflies, bird watching, sewing, knitting, cake decorating and working with stained glass.
Margaret will be dearly missed by three sons, Marvin (Beth) Bausman, Jr. of Beloit, Wis., Kirk (Cathy) Bausman of Hawthorn, Nev., and Jodi (Kathy) Bausman of Mount Carroll; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Douglas (Lillian) Morgan of Camanche, Iowa.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Sr.; both parents, Myrtle and Clyde; one brother, Clyde Morgan Jr.; and one sister, Betty Divelbiss.
