SAVANNA—Albert "Leroy, Sparky" Anderson, 76, of Savanna, passed into eternity Monday, May 27, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with a time of sharing at 8 p.m. Family and friends will also join at Manny’s following the Celebration of Life at the funeral home. Leroy was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Savanna, the son of Albert Lee and Hazel (Green) Anderson. He attended Savanna Schools and at a young age began working for the Milwaukee Railroad in Savanna. Leroy went on to work in maintenance at ALCO Dispensing in Savanna until he retired in 1987.
Leroy was a loving father and grandfather. He was also blessed the last 28 years with his lifetime companion and friend, Jackie Ross.
He enjoyed watching Chicago sports, playing in the local pool league, bowling, darts and camping at Timber Lake with friends. Leroy was easy going and known as "one of the friendliest people you'd ever meet."
He will be dearly missed by his two children, Jerry (Joan) Anderson of Savanna and Angie (Mike) Smith of Byron; seven grandchildren, Ashley (fiancé Matt Reitz) Anderson, Brandon, Joshua and Josie Anderson, Steven, Nicole and Mellisa Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Ivy; and his loving companion, Jackie Ross.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Tabertas, Samuel and Richard; and two infant sisters, Ellen and Leona.
