SAVANNA—Norma Jean Holy, 94, of Savanna, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society-Mount Carroll two days after her 94th birthday.

Norma was born March 29, 1925, in Savanna to Jens and Marie (Boerner) Hansen. On Aug. 14, 1955, she married Merle Holy in Savanna, celebrating 63 years of marriage as of last year.

She graduated from Savanna High School in 1943, and has been a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Savanna. In her earlier years Norma worked at the Savanna Army Depot.

She was a 84-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to travel by car or to take bus trips. Her two favorite destinations were Branson Mo., and Phoenix Ariz. Holidays were special to Norma and she would decorate her home for each one. At Good Sam, Norma took part in many activities, bingo being her favorite pastime.

Norma will be dearly missed by her husband, Merle Holy; her son, Richard Holy; and numerous cousins and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Jen and Marie (Boerner) Hansen.
