MOUNT CARROLL—Robert "Bob" Eley Warfield, 63, of Mount Carroll, passed away on May 28, 2020. He was born Oct. 3, 1956, in the Savanna Hospital to Jesse V. and Dona (Spencer) Warfield.

He graduated from Mount Carroll High School in 1974 and entered the U.S. Army in 1986.

After his time in the Army, Bob worked for his father in the family business, Warfield Plumbing and Heating. He also greatly enjoyed working for his brother Jim at Raven's Grin. He spent his later years taking care of his parents and his feline companions, Lucy and Early.

If you knew Bob, you know that he was an encyclopedia of history and archaeology. He had a voracious appetite for reading and learning and his vocabulary was so prodigious that it often mystified his medical team. Bob always had interesting discussions at the ready. He instilled a love of nature into both of his sons as they spent a great deal of time with him hiking and camping in their youth.

Bob is survived by his son, Jesse (Diana Kradle) Warfield of Savanna; his brother, Jim (Jessica) Warfield of Mount Carroll; sister, Jena (Kim) Bienash of Selmer, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Angel Warfield, Jesse River Warfield, Kacen Neuschwanger, Phillip Kradle, and Jackson Kradle. He also leaves behind nephews Andrew (Renee) Warfield, Matt Warfield, John Warfield, and Scott Warfield, along with his great-nephew, Sean Warfield, who Bob thought of fondly.

A Family and Friends Picnic to celebrate Bob will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 1 p.m. at Point Rock Park in Mount Carroll. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Bob's name to the Mount Carroll Library, one of his favorite places to learn new things.

Bob was preceded in death by his son, Aryan C. Warfield, and his parents.
