OLATHE, Kan.—Stephan “Steve” Martin Ginie, 78, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Savanna, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and children at Prairie Elder Care in Overland Park, Kan.
He was born June 21, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa, to Martin and Mary (Sullivan) Ginie.
Steve was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Flying Silhouettes Water Ski Club, and played high school football and basketball while at Savanna High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
On June 21, 1969, Steve married Jerilyn "Jeri" Ann Cavanagh, and they initially made their homes in Chicago and Springfield. They spent the majority of their life together in Olathe, Kan., with their children, Kathi, Kerry and Ryan.
Steve was the Branch Chief of Financial Operations for the United States Department of Agriculture and worked for the government for almost 40 years.
He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and a faithful member of Prince of Peace Church.
Steve touched many lives and will be remembered for his love of playing pool, golfing, fishing, waterskiing, ping-pong, dancing the jitterbug — and especially for his love of family and friends.
Steve is survived and dearly missed by his loving wife, Jeri; children, Kathi (Chris) Bayne, Kerry (Daniel) Liszt and Ryan (Stacy) Ginie; his grandchildren, Stephen, Isabella, Elena, and Eva; his brother Rick (Mary Ellen) Ginie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary (Sullivan) Ginie; brother, Kevin Ginie; and sister, Connie Miles.
Private services were held.
