It seems these days I can't help feeling overcome with awe and appreciation for the community's out-pour of emotional and financial support for the Mount Carroll District Library rehabilitation and expansion project.
As I learn more and more about how the library is part of everyone's past and present, I know its future is bright.
The Feb. 28 fundraiser deadline to secure enough funds to match the State of Illinois' grant offer of $1,157,245 is quickly drawing near. As of this writing, over $725,000 has been raised with $455,000 more to go.
We can't slow down now! Tell your friends about the importance of our library to you personally and to our community.
Like those citizens who raised funds to secure money from Andrew Carnegie to build the library, it is now our turn to make this once-in-our-lifetime investment in our present and our future.
