Thomson Community Fund (TCF) board members collected $8,553 from September through November. TCF would like to thank Thomson/York Township residents who helped make this possible through your contributions.
Funds will be distributed March 4 to 13 community non-profit organizations. The TCF board invites community members in Carroll County to attend the check presentation at 6 p.m. at the Thomson United Methodist Church, 1901 Illinois 84. It is a wonderful way to see the presentations by our non-profit organizations and hear about all the great things they do to help our community.
Non-profit organizations that will receive checks include:
Thomson Cub Scouts, Rolling Hills Progress Center, Thomson Public Library, Carroll County Senior Center and Transit, Thomson Depot Historic Sight Restoration, Thomson Children's Halloween and Christmas Party Fund.
Thomson Family/Children Christmas Fund Clothing and Christmas Meals, Thomson Youth Summer Baseball, CASA, Salvation Army, Riverview Center Carroll County, Tyler Justice Center for Children, Lutheran Social Services Carroll County.
The Thomson Community Fund was established in 1983. TCF is a non-profit 501c organization and 100 percent of funds collected goes right back to our local non-profit community organizations. TCF board members do not receive a salary or any compensation.
TCF has completed its 2018 collection. Each year TCF members personally go door-to-door to each home in Thomson (York Township) requesting donations. Doing this eliminates several organizations requesting money from residents and keeps us connected with our community. Additionally local companies donate directly or offer payroll deductions for Thomson residents.
The board of directors consists of nine elected members which include four elected officers staggered in three-year terms. Current officers are: President, Abby Smith; Vice President, Rita Mitchell; Treasurer, Regina Vesely; Secretary, Kay Appel. Board committee members are Katie Floming, Charlotte Daehler, Louann Hoch, Lisa Campbell and Lori Bielma. Volunteer, CPA David Meade.
