Dear Editor:

This is in response to Ruth DeMuth’s letter published in the Jan. 20-21 Mirror-Democrat and Times-Journal (‘We must all strive to unite the nation’).

Mrs. DeMuth stated, "I find it horrific to think of the cruelty done to one man, President Trump, for these past six or seven years. The torment he felt was placed upon him and his family daily and now he is being crucified with such vengeance."

I am wondering how horrific it is to her to think of the cruelty done to the immigrant children who were forcibly separated from their parents at the border and many of whom still are separated.

I wonder if she finds it horrific to think of the cruelty shown by our ex-president when he mocked disabled people, slandered entire countries and ethnic groups, and demonized those who dared to disagree with him.

She also said, "I wonder, if President Trump lived in the time of Jesus, would he have hung on a cross next to Christ?"

I think it far more likely that he would have been one of those who gleefully hammered the nails in and stood around mocking Jesus while stuffing himself with the 1st century equivalent of Big Macs.
