Dear Editor:

The West Carroll Sports Boosters are gearing up for the 2019-20 school year. This year we have a lot of activities planned and are always looking for help.

We need West Carroll residents to help support our sports programs by attending meetings, volunteering to help with concessions and, most importantly, to come to as many sporting events as possible.

Over the past few years there has been a steady decline in attendance to watch these incredible athletes. Kids perform better in front of an audience.

The schools profit from admission fees and the Boosters profit from apparel and concession sales. All of the profits for the WC Sports Boosters go directly back into the school's sports programs.

This past year we were asked to help with more and bigger items, camps, tournaments, uniforms, etc. The Boosters also started recognizing three-sport athletes and 12-sport senior athletes.

We need help to come up with new ideas on ways to raise money for all of the sports programs. That is primarily the focus at our meetings — to plan for events, concessions, games, apparel sales to raise money.

We could really use new people with fresh ideas. Our August calendar is filling quickly and our volunteer list is slim. Our next meeting is Monday, Aug 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Manny's in Savanna.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, we will be at the Primary School during registration from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. to sell WC apparel.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, we will be selling new sports apparel at the WCHS New Athlete-Parent meeting from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, we will be at both the Primary School and the Middle School from 4-6 p.m. to sell WC apparel.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, we could really use the help of students, athletes, parents, coaches and fans to clean out the football concession stand and stadium.

The school year is fast approaching, please consider coming to a volleyball and football game. Head over to Sandburr to watch some very talented WC golfers or find a cross country race near here and help cheer on our runners to victory.
