Dear Editor:

All politics is local — we elect and appoint leaders who represent our values; we look to you for leadership.

Words matter, as we so painfully witnessed last week as hooligans raided sacred shrines of democracy at the behest of self-serving politicians.

Silence matters, as well, and for the last four years, our local Republican "leaders" have remained silent as long as their coffers were full and their party remained in power: "Not my job, I only concern myself with the State, or my District, or my town."

Not good enough. Silence has been tacit approval of the shenanigans at every government level kowtowing to bullies and the so-called Republican base.

Words matter. Your silence was deafening. Shame on all of you.
