We knew we lived in a caring, generous community but the amount of donations we received for our Emergency Fund, established only a few weeks ago, surpassed all our expectations. A big thank you to all donors.
This new fund was established to assist organizations providing basic needs services and finances to those most needy and organizations and nonprofits experiencing continuity of operations challenges due to public health recommendations.
Our recent campaign to match up to $2,200 for donations to the Emergency Fund has the fund total now over $10,000 and we have already started distributing some of it. The Savanna Food Pantry, where Mount Carroll families can go for assistance, was granted $500 (see photo in this week’s Mirror-Democrat) and the Mount Carroll Ambulance Corps received $1,000 for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Additionally, we just approved giving a ($500) grant to both the Mount Carroll Health and Welfare Fund and the Tri-County Opportunities Council. Both assist Mount Carroll families financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic sustain their housing and move toward or regain stability and self-sufficiency.
More exciting grant news is coming and we will keep you updated. We are still accepting donations which can be sent to: MCCF Emergency Fund, P.O. Box 123, Mount Carroll, IL 61053, or donate online at www.mtcarrollcommunityfoundation.org. Thank you.
