Dear Editor:

The Savanna Children’s Christmas Fund had another successful year as the individuals and groups of Savanna and the surrounding communities gave so whole-heartedly in the spirit of the holiday season. We continue to be in awe at the kindness and overwhelming generosity that makes our event run smoothly each year.

Specifically, we would like to thank St. Peter Lutheran Church, Community United Church of Christ, First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Boy Scouts, Miller Excavating, Charles Swisher, Lupe Castro, Savanna Woman’s Club, Carol Gloor, Wanda Long, Anne Swan-Johnson, Frederick and Jeanne Bess, Jeanette Haas, Savanna Chiropractic, Kathleen Eaton, Osborn Mills, Jo Carey, Charles Hengstberger, Larry and Mary Stebbins, Christine Lee, Gene and Carol Wright, Val and Deb Gunnarsson, Fred and Barb High, Patrick and Barb Tracey, Beta Sigma Phi, Knights of Columbus, MacLean Fogg, Kasbohm Drilling, Veronica Mason, Penny Kreusch, Norma Smith, The Captain’s Chair, Chapter of PEO, Matt Floming, Jon Floming, Gabe Castro, Deeann Kramer, Chris Lain, and every person who contributed in any way to this program.

With the selfless efforts of all the individuals involved, the Children's Fund was able to serve 111 kids and 49 families this past Christmas. Every penny donated is used for the children identified at Christmas. The gifts of clothing were presented at a party complete with cookies, punch, holiday music, coloring books, blankets and Santa Claus.

For over 35 years this program has been thriving in the community and it is easy to see why. The willingness of the community to donate and volunteer makes this incredibly worthy cause an absolute joy to oversee.

We look forward to continuing this tradition of the Children's Fund that has served thousands of kids and hundreds of families over the years.
