Dear Editor:

The Mount Carroll Rotary Club is pleased to announce fundraising efforts to provide a new outdoor ice skating rink this winter have been successful thanks to many generous donations.

The location has been determined and construction of a 40-foot by 80-foot skating surface to the northeast of the swimming pool will begin in the next few weeks. Funds raised thus far will cover the costs associated with building the rink and equipment needed to clear snow and keep the surface smooth.

Additional funds raised will be used to enhance the skating and viewing experience. It is our desire to be able to provide heaters for the spectator area, benches rinkside for the skaters, a portable restroom, raised fire pit, hockey goals and sticks, additional "loaner" skates, and skating clinics and demonstrations.

Target date for completed construction and grand opening is approximately Dec. 15. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Please help us make this winter a memorable one for you and your family and consider a donation to our ongoing fundraising efforts to bring a fun and safe skating experience for all this season.

Donations may be made payable to the Mount Carroll Rotary Club at 210 E. Broadway St., Mount Carroll, IL 61053.
