Riverview Center’s 2nd Annual Character Camp for students in kindergarten through 4th grade was very successful this year, according to organizers of the event.
“The camp teaches kids how to respect others, be an active bystander, use positive and respectful speech, encourage others, and ensure fairness with others,” said organizer Lorie Kaatz. “Some of the kids’ favorite activities included park clean up, bread making, painting, letters to heroes, and caring coupons.”
In June, the camps were held at Point Rock Park in Mount Carroll, Village Park in Shannon and Old Mill Park in Savanna. In July, the camps were held at City Park in Lanark and Handel Park in Chadwick.
One mother said, “They were excited to come every day, and they shared with us what they learned.”
Riverview Center would like to thank Kunes Country Auto Group, the Carroll County Farm Bureau, Meagan Smith, the City of Mount Carroll, the Village of Shannon, the City of Lanark, the Savanna Park District, the Chadwick Police Department and servant leaders from Eastland and West Carroll high schools for their support of the camp.
